Founded in 1989 as a ministry of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph Parish, the Cathedral Food Pantry has been a vital resource for the Asylum Hill community for many years. We have been serving our neighbors since, regardless of their religious affiliation or background.
Our mission is to spread God's love by sharing the blessings of food and other resources with our brothers and sisters in Christ with dignity and compassion. With the help of many generous volunteers, we strive to achieve this goal by opening our doors to the public on a weekly basis. It is our hope that by following the example of Christ, we can affect real and lasting change here in Hartford.
Thursday, 9 to 11:45 am
We maintain a robust inventory of grocery staples as well as fresh produce, dairy, and canned and dry goods (food items may vary weekly). Additionally, we carry infant needs as well as some personal hygiene essentials.
Friday, 10 am to 1 pm
We offer several racks of gently worn clothing pieces as well as an assortment of general household necessities. Clothing options depend on donations received, but we try to offer a varied assortment of adult and children's clothes.
Our community is full of people who want to help. We can help connect the people providing services with the people who need them. If there are specific services you are in need of, simply ask one of our friendly volunteers.
